Question: How will Massage Therapy Benefit me? Answer: The Registered Massage Therapists working at Wascana Remedial Massage Centre will help you with conditions ranging from muscular tension to reduction of stress. Massage therapy can deliver benefits to a wide range of physical and emotional health issues and will positively effect the health and well being of the client.
Question: How do I know my Therapist is qualified? Answer: If they are Therapists working at Wascana Remedial Massage Centre you can be confident that they have all graduated from a 2200 hour Massage Therapy Course, continue to upgrade their skills and pursue their interest as required by the Continuing Education rules of their Massage Therapy Association and they will also have mandatory insurances in place.
Question: Why do I have to fill out forms? Answer: It is imperative that we have a Confidential Medical Patient form completed by you so we can tailor your treatment to be the most effective for your particular situation. Also, it is a requirement of the Massage Therapy Association to obtain consent to do a Massage therapy treatment.
Question: After my massage will my Therapist tell me how I can help myself? Answer: Yes. The Registered Massage Therapists that work in this Clinic pride themselves in patient education and will give you tips and hints on stretches, postural correction and will provide you with a information card addressing the correct use of heat and ice. They will also inform you of the benefits of Epsom Salt baths and the importance of adequate water consumption.
Question: How many treatments will I need? Answer: Depends on how long you have had the problem and how acute your situation is. Usually you will get excellent results in 3 treatments spaced 3 – 5 days apart. Your Therapist will also discuss the benefits of a maintenance program for you.
Question: How far in advance to I have to call to make follow up appointments? Answer: Please do not leave calling in to the last minute. Your Therapist may have a treatment plan in place for you and it does both you and your Therapist a disservice if you cannot get back in with them because you never booked far enough in advance. The Therapists are always quite booked so it would be wise to book before you leave the Clinic. However, if you must call to arrange a time with your Therapist, at least 2-3 days should be fine.
Question: How old does a person need to be to come for a Massage? Answer: The Therapists have experience with clients of any age. There are benefits for the client at all stages of life.
Question: Which areas of my body will be massaged. Answer: You will be asked to describe any muscular problems you are experiencing and how long the discomfort has been present. Your answers will determine the areas to be treated.
Question: Do I have to take off all of my clothes? Answer: Absolutely not. One of the keys to the success of a good massage therapy treatment is your ability to relax. Therefore, the decision is yours, remove only the article of clothing that you are comfortable with removing.
Question: Do I have to take my clothes off in front of anyone? Answer: Absolutely not. Your Therapist will leave the room while you get undressed in total privacy. You will be instructed to cover yourself completely with the sheet and towels provided and when your Therapist returns to the treatment room to perform your massage, only the area that is being treated is uncovered. That area is then covered as they go on to the next area to be treated. At no time should you feel uncomfortable. Our Therapists are trained professionals and will go out of their way to allow you to feel comfortable. At the end of the session you are once again left to dress in complete privacy.
Question: What is a typical Full Body Massage? Answer: This would be a massage to your back, neck, shoulders, arms and hands, legs and feet. However, it is your massage so if there is an area you do not want massaged, simply tell your Therapist and they will be more than happy to accommodate you
Question: What is your policy on Missed Appointments? Answer: When you book an appointment with us, that time is set aside for YOU and ONLY you. We never double book and we try to always be ready for you when you arrive. In return we ask that you have the same courtesy for your therapist by not being a “no show”!
Please understand that Massage Therapists only get paid when they perform a Massage treatment or a BodyTalk treatment so missed appointments are costly for us and your actions deny an appointment time for someone who may be in desperate need.
That said, our Policy is simple. If you do not show up for your scheduled appointment with us and you have not notified us by phone at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of the treatment as booked. We would be pleased to issue a receipt for the amount you paid.
Question: What is your Cancellation Policy? Answer: In the event that you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment with us, please contact us by phone at least 24 hours prior to your appointment time. If you do not reach us, please leave a message on our voicemail system. If we do not hear from you within this timeframe, and you do not keep your appointment, the above policy will apply.
*Note: We recognize there may be circumstances that are out of your control (sudden illness, family emergencies, etc.) and so it will be up to your Therapist if they wish to make an exception to the above policy on those rare occasions.
Question:. Will my extended Health Care Plan at work cover Massage Therapy treatments? Answer: Yes. Most extended Healthcare plans include Massage Therapy. Some plans ask you to first receive a Doctor’s referral. The Registered Massage Therapists at Wascana Remedial Massage Centre issue a receipt for every treatment performed . The receipt contains all of the necessary information for you to get re-imbursment from your Plan.
Question: Do you offer Gift Certificates? Answer: Of course we do!! A gift certificate for a therapeutic massage is a great way to show someone that you care and is always the perfect gift for someone who is impossible to buy for. Give someone the Gift of Health!
